WHO IS AYO FAWOLE?

North London-born storyteller with 30+ years in the arts. Known for raw, honest poetry (This Isn’t Poetry, It’s Therapy) and roles on stage, screen, and TV (EastEnders, The Bill, Hackney Empire). Passionate about expression, resilience, and connecting through creativity. WHO IS AYO FAWOLE?

Born and raised in North London, Ayo’s early life was shaped by cultural diversity, systemic challenges, and a passion for expression. Despite a turbulent school experience, his talent and energy found a home on stage from a young age. He trained at the renowned Anna Scher Theatre and went on to perform at major venues including Sadler’s Wells, Hackney Empire, The Glenbourne Opera house and internationally at the Manoel Theatre in Malta.

Ayo’s acting credits span stage, TV, and film — with appearances in EastEnders, The Bill, Little Miss Jocelyn, and roles in independent films such as Rag Tag and David Is Dying. His passion for poetry was sparked through classic literature and theatre in education, eventually leading him to develop his own powerful voice as a writer and performer.

HAVE YOU ATTENDED THE POET BEHIND THE MIC?

The Poet BTM is a poetry night with a twist. After performing, each poet shares the story behind the mic—their inspirations, journey, and truth. We also open the floor to the audience for a deeper connection. Created and hosted by Ayo Fawole, this event is an ode to the poet and everything they represent. Open to all, The Poet BTM is a safe space—free of judgment, built on community, creativity, and inclusion. Over two years, we’ve welcomed hundreds of voices: from first-time performers to seasoned pros, local favourites to international names. Whether you’re here to speak your truth or soak up the energy, this is your space. One mic. One community. One unforgettable night.
